Preparing for My Presentation: Feedback & Adjustments
Category: Reflection, Process, Coaching
1. Introduction
On January 31st, I had a final feedback session with my project coach to discuss the structure of my upcoming presentation. The goal of this session was to ensure that my slides and narrative were clear, aligned with my research, and effectively conveyed my process.
This post will cover:
- The presentation structure and feedback received.
- The key adjustments I need to make before the final presentation.
- The logistical details regarding setup on the day of the presentation.
2. Walking Through My Presentation
I structured my slides to walk the audience through:
- Introduction to my project & research question
- My research into motion tracking & interactive installations
- My first experiments in TouchDesigner
- Challenges I encountered & how I adapted
- My current working prototype
- Future improvements & next steps
- Final reflections
Slide 1: Project Introduction

I introduced my research question
Slide 2: Research & Exploration

I presented my research into different motion tracking methods:
- Webcam-based tracking
- AI-powered tracking (Mediapipe)
- Kinect tracking (which I had not done as of now)
Coach’s Feedback:
- The research is okay, but since I originally planned to explore the Kinect, I should make sure to integrate it before the final presentation.
Slide 3: First Experiments & Prototypes

Slide 4: Challenges & Adaptations

Some major challenges I faced:
- Projector positioning issues → My body silhouette was casting a shadow on the projection.
- Lighting conditions → Needed time to adjust the setup.
- Body tracking setup delays → Haven’t tested it yet.
Coach’s Feedback:
- The projector issue is a concern, but I should test the school’s setup when I have access to the classrooms.
Slide 5: Current Prototype & Interaction

Coach’s Feedback:
- It is good I thought of the need to record a backup video in case of technical issues.
Slide 6: Future Improvements & Next Steps

Potential improvements:
- Fine-tune motion tracking for smoother interactions.
- Explore gesture-based controls.
- Look into real-world applications (e.g., museum installations).
Coach’s Feedback:
- All are valid next steps.
- A meeting with the ergotherapy alumni (who have a 3D room setup) would be beneficial if I can arrange it.
Slide 7: Timeline & Logistics

Since my setup is dependent on environmental conditions, I asked if I could arrive early on the day of the presentation to adjust the setup.
Coach’s Feedback:
- The classrooms open at 6-7 AM, so I will have ample time before my presentation at 9:30 AM.
- Teachers arrive at 8 AM, so adjustments should be mostly done by then.
3. Key Takeaways from the Feedback Session
Presentation Structure is Clear
- My slides logically present my research and process.
- No major structural changes needed.
Kinect Testing is a Priority
- Since I originally included it in my project proposal, I need to integrate it properly before the final presentation.
Lighting & Projector Positioning Must Be Tested
- The school setup might solve my silhouette issue.
- Early access to the classroom on presentation day will allow setup time.
Exploring the Ergotherapy 3D Room is a Unique Opportunity
- If I can arrange another session, it could provide valuable insights.
4. Next Steps
With this feedback in mind, my next steps are:
- Test the Kinect & integrate it into my prototype.
- Visit the school setup to check projector positioning.
- Confirm if I can meet with the ergotherapy team.
- Prepare a backup video in case of technical issues.
By implementing these adjustments, I’ll ensure that my final presentation effectively showcases my research, challenges, and interactive prototype.
